Important User Information

The User acknowledges that the DUKC® System is an aid to navigation. The purpose of the system is to ensure that the best possible UKC information is available to assist in the planning and conduct of vessel transits, thereby contributing to protecting the marine environment and enhancing the safety and efficiency of navigation in this region.

The DUKC® System provides outputs based on historic and predicted data as well as real-time and data obtained from various sources and types that include met-ocean sensors, vessel AIS transmissions, official bathymetry and vessel stability information. Although the DUKC® System is a complex integration of a number of traditional aids to navigation and related nautical information, the system is provided as a specific aid to navigation for deep draught transits of Torres Strait.

Precautions have been taken to ensure that the information in and generated by this system is accurate. However, the responsibility for safe navigation continues to reside with mariners through the appropriate use of the system in conjunction with other aids to navigation, official hydrographic products and prudent seamanship, which includes voyage planning as defined in IMO Resolutions.

The Australian Maritime Safety Authority accepts no liability arising from misuse of the system or misinterpretation of information provided or generated. Refer to http://www.amsa.gov.au/navigation/shipping-management/pilotage/ for more information.

When using the DUKC® System, user actions are logged to assist with diagnostics and system analysis activities.
